The demand for Hennessy cognacs has skyrocketed in recent years. Earlier in 2017, Hennessy warned that due to increased sales that consumers could expect to see a Hennessy V.S. shortage later in the year. That shortage materialized in the third quarter this year.

A late spring frost this year that damaged a portion of the Cognac vineyards further compounded Hennessy’s inventory shortage. Hennessy, the world’s leading cognac producer, recently announced plans to help allievate their inventory shortage and to increase production of cognac. The plans do not include buying other cognac producers but rather include greater planting of vineyards.
