Martell VSOP Medaillon is crafted from eaux-de-vie from the Grande and Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois growing crus. It is aged between five to seven years in French Oak barrels. Martell VSOP benefits from a longer aging process that provides it with a light yet distinctive oak flavor that complement the carmelized dried fruit flavors of this smooth and mellow cognac. Martell’s eaux-de-vie are aged in French Oak from trees of the Tronçais style, with a fine grain that creates cognacs with lighter tannins and a delicate woody flavor. Martell also uses grapes for its eaux-de-vie from the exclusive and most prestigious Cognac appellations of Borderies, Petit Champagne and Grande Champagne.

Finish: A medium long spicy orange peel finish kicks in quickly after the initial nutty mouth.
Overall: Martell VSOP Medaillon has a well-orchestrated symphony of aromas and flavors to enjoy with a complex nose, subdued mouth and a racy finish. Martell VSOP Medaillon mixes surprisingly well, especially with citrus or fruit inspired cocktails. Martell suggests VSOP Medailllon for use in the toasted lemon cognac cocktail a variation on the sidecar that substitutes sweet grilled lemon for lemon juice. Martell also recommends VSOP Medaillon for mixing in the traditional sidecar and in an intriguing sounding plum spritz (cognac, plum wine or sake, topped with soda). Martell VSOP Medaillon is the most delicate of big four VSOP offerings, owing perhaps to its use of Tronçais oak in the aging process.
