Dobbé is a Cognac House that dates back to 1787 when the Dobbé family first acquired a few acres of vineyards in the Charente region of France. Today, eight generations later, the Dobbé family continues the tradition of fine cognac making. The Dobbé estate is run by Michel Dobbé and his son-in law Nicolas.
The Dobbé family’s thirty five acres of vineyards are located predominately in the Petit Champagne growing Cru with about a third of the vineyards located in the adjoining Fin Bois growing cru on the banks of the Charente River. The family’s Petite Champagne vineyards, planted with Ugni Blanc grapes, are in the Prunelas estate in Salignac-sur-Charente about six miles due west of Cognac.
The Dobbé offices are located in the town of Cognac.
Dobbé Cognac produces a number of fine cognacs across the range of designations, including a VS, a V.S.O.P. a 10 year-old Petite Champagne Cognac, a XO Extra, a XO Grand Century and their “most noble in their range of cognacs” Cognac Héritage Petite Champagne.
Dobbé cognacs have recently won a slew of medals. Dobbé V.S. won the San Francisco World Spirits Competition Silver Medal in 2014. Dobbé V.S.O.P won the China Wine and Spirits Awards Double Gold Medal in 2015. Dobbé Cognac XO Grand Century won the China Wine and Spirits Awards Gold Medal in 2015.
Dobbé also produces DOBBÉ O – Orange liqueur with cognac, a liqueur in the style of Grand Marnier and Cointreau Noir. DOBBÉ O won a Bronze Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2014.
Dobbé cognacs are produced and bottled on the family estate in Salignac-sur-Charente. They are distilled in two 25-hectolitre Charente stills and aged in Limosin Oak.
